At Communities In Schools we’ve now moved beyond the school walls, to provide vulnerable students with the resources they need to stay healthy, maintain their progress in school and most importantly, deal with issues of anxiety and trauma they may be feeling during this time of crisis.

In the middle of her junior year at Seguin High School, Nakya found herself homeless and in need of a safe place to stay.  Nakya’s choice to begin counseling sessions with Ms. Bethany, the CIS Site Coordinator on campus, empowered her towards stability and success.

Autumn Coleman and Ashunti Goggins, seniors at McDonough High School in Henry County, Ga., weren’t always friends. That was before the SOAR club, coordinated by CIS site coordinator Kara Colley, became their sisterhood.
